Diplomatic History

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain were established on 27 November 1978.

Initially, the Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia was accredited as non-resident Ambassador to Bahrain. In 1989, jurisdiction over Bahrain was transferred to the Philippine Embassy in the U.A.E.

On 18 April 1992, the Philippine Government opened an Embassy in Manama.
The first resident Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain was H.E. Leonides T. Caday (1992-94). He was succeeded by Akmad A. Sakkam (1994-99), Rodolfo I. Dumapias (1999-2002), Candidato B. Gutoc (2002-2003) and Eduardo Pablo M. Maglaya (2003-2009).

H.E. Ma. Corazon Yap-Bahjin is the current Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain. The (non-resident) Ambassador-designate of Bahrain to RP is H.E. Karin Ebrahim al-Shakar.

Hon. Amable Cruz Aguiluz IX is the current Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Bahrain to RP.
